Book Review: No Exit by Taylor Adams

History doesn’t quite repeat itself, but damn, it sure can rhyme.

Book Review

First book of 2019, and I am so glad I chose this one! I greedily devoured this book. I read it in two work nights, which is a huge deal for me. Typically I cook, eat, and go to bed. At least, that’s what it feels like most nights!

Typically, I like books by women. Men and women have such different voices that come through in writing, and it’s hard for me to read a book by a male, especially with a woman main character. From my experience, they rarely nail it and make the character believable. However, I thought Adams did a darn good job at creating Darby and making her a believable, and badass (there’s literally no other word for it), character. So kudos to him for that! And he’s making me rethink my bias on male authors. I think maybe I’m reading the wrong male authors… so if anyone wants to give a suggestion please do so in the comments or email me.

No Exit is suspenseful, and at times absolutely disgusting. This book is definitely not kid friendly, maybe even not teen friendly. If it were a movie, it would be rated PG-13 or maybe even R depending on how they depicted the violence. It was outside of my typical reads, but really good. Action packed. If you think you have the plot figured out at any point, you’re wrong. At one point, I just gave up guessing and went along for the wild ride. And let me tell ya. It. Was. Wild.

I’d definitely recommend this to anyone looking to shake up their life a little, stay awake late reading, or have some weird dreams. It’s definitely got gore, it has mention of sex, and some dark themes throughout. But, it has twists and turns I never could have imagined!

I don’t want to ruin anything, so I’ll stop talking about it.
