Book Review: A Conspiracy of Stars by Olivia A. Cole

“I promise to consider the good of humans above all else, and do no harm.”

Book Review

First off, I want to say that A Conspiracy of Stars was phenomenally inventive. It created a whole new planet with so many complexities. It’s difficult to create an entire planet with different rules, customs, plants, animals, weather patterns, and so many more details, while effectively getting the story line to the readers as well. Olivia Cole did a good job of this.

However, there were some things I just couldn’t get past. Some plot holes. Some character building issues. The way that the kids think a nosebleed will stop their internship but when a whole person dies they resume work in four days. The way deaths were treated in this book were honestly a bit…cold? It was as if people were dying but no one cared.

The main character is 16, but extremely logical about the crush she has…which let’s be real, what 16-year-old is logical about their crushes? Ok, maybe I was a bit crazy at 16! Overall, though, this book had so many good components. I know I’m complaining about things, but I stayed up late at night devouring this book, and I don’t do that often! I really enjoyed the read and suggest if you’re looking to get transported to a different planet, check this book out!
