Book Review: Flipped For Murder by Maddie Day

Flipped for Murder by Maddie Day was such an enjoyable read! This is one of those books that are just light and fun. A woman, Robbie, starts a restaurant she calls Pans N Pancakes in a small town. Then, suddenly, she becomes a suspect for a local murder. Determined to set the record straight, she starts investigating further into the murder mystery of Stella.

Amateur sleuth books are some of my favorites, and this one was such a great read! It was light, there wasn’t a huge twist at the end to completely boggle your mind, and it had themes of family, friendship, and romance in it. Themes of which where explored but not fully, leaving you to wonder what happens in Robbie’s life after Stella’s murder was solved. I’ll definitely be reading the next book in the series, Grilled For Murder!

The only things I didn’t like about this book were that a man calls himself vegetarian but eats fish. That’s one of my pet peeves for some reason. Luckily, the book redeems itself by Robbie asking how he can be a vegetarian when he eats fish. The man foolishly says fish don’t have legs so he figures it’s fine. …I won’t get started on that. But that’s more of a personal belief problem than anything it definitely doesn’t deter from the book itself! It just stops me from liking that particular character.

Also, the author, Maddie Day, is extremely descriptive in such a refreshing way. Some of the descriptions were hilarious and really had me picturing everything happening. Something to watch for if you decide to read it!

Overall, I give this book a solid 4/5. Definitely a good rainy day read!
